Another session at home was a bit more interesting than the previous occasion. Two moths that at rest  hold their bodies curved upwards, Gauna aegusalis and Sceliodes cordalis; the larvae of the former graze on rust fungus galls on wattles, the latter on aubergines. Some images will enlarge.

The first garden moth check out for autumn was disappointing, with a small number of moths to the sheet. Just a few Agrotis porphyricollis, two Crypsiphona ocultaria, a Chlorocoma stereota and a scattering of smaller moths. Moth populations in the native garden have plummeted, mirroring the situation with invertebrates generally here and world wide over the last few years. The garden inhabitants are certainly not affected by loss of habitat or spraying for example, other factors must be causing the decline, with climate change perhaps high on the list.
