Moths were disappointingly sparse, reflecting the current state of invertebrate populations world wide, and some were reluctant to settle on the sheet, however, enough were snapped for this post. Thalaina clara refused to settle but one was found hiding in the grass, at least showing the wing under side.<br \/>\nMost images will enlarge.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/clara.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/clarab.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"481\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Plesanemma fucata was more obliging.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/ples.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/plesb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"542\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A nice male emerald, (Prasinocyma) semicrocea<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/emerald.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/emeraldb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"376\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Female Ectropis fractaria.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/geo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/geob.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"391\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A nicely patterned small moth, Sandava scitisignata<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/sandava.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"367\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And smaller still, 6mm nose to tail, Nola pleurosema<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/nola.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"765\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And at the other end of the scale, the Batwing Moth, Chelepteryx collesi, male.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/bwing1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/bwing1b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"405\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/bwing2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths28\/bwing2b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"432\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This session was at the local Bellbird Corner Riverside Reserve, where the surrounding vegetation includes Gippsland Red Gum, Silver Wattle, Tree Violet, and Melaleuca ericifolia.
