A larva was found in January of that year followed by an adult male in May. Since then larvae have been found every year in December or January, with a single moth coming to the light in May. This year two males came in, suggesting that the population may be increasing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home7\/batwing3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home7\/batwing3b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"391\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home7\/batwing4b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"847\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Two species of Paralaea came in, P. beggaria again, showing its hind wings,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home7\/parab.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home7\/parabb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"497\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And Paralaea porphyrinaria.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home7\/parap.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"805\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Two Noctuids in the Hadenini, the Southern Army Worm, Persectania ewingii,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home7\/pers.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home7\/persb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"697\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And the Double-lined Noctuid, Leucania diatrecta.<br \/>\nMOV Volume 9 notes that the long scales beneath the resting male can often be seen,<br \/>\nand they certainly can be with this attractive specimen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home7\/leuc1.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"815\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home7\/leuc2.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"851\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Batwing Moths, Chelepteryx collesi have been a familiar autumn moth out in the bush, but it was a surprise to find them in the garden, starting in 2018.
