{"id":2968,"date":"2021-03-08T21:30:54","date_gmt":"2021-03-08T21:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/?p=2968"},"modified":"2021-03-29T04:31:09","modified_gmt":"2021-03-29T04:31:09","slug":"summer-2021-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/2021\/03\/08\/summer-2021-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer 2021 #7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few Noctuids, first Ectopatria horologa, aka the Saltbush Cutworm moth.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/ecto.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"880\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This moth is widespread although not common, in this area the larvae would feed on Einadia nutans, the Nodding Saltbush, that is very abundant along the river and creek, and in the home garden. The fruit of this small scrambler are attractive to many native birds, and it is also the larval food plant of the Chequered Blue Butterfly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/einadia.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Diatenes aglossoides is a common moth during the warmer months, this was a nice one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/diatenes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/diatenesb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"389\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Proteuxoa sanguinipuncta showing its hind wings for once.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/prot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/protb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"641\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And Pantydia sparsa, an occasional visitor to the light.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/pantidia.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/pantidiab.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"589\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not many small moths on the night, a Crambid, Hednota pleniferellus.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/hednota.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"854\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A Footman, Thallarcha sparsana (Lithosiinae)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/thallarcha.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"819\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A Tortricid, Meritastis species.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/tort1.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"822\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And an Oecophorinae species.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/moths21\/oeco1.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"872\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few Noctuids, first Ectopatria horologa, aka the Saltbush Cutworm moth.
