One of the first visitors was a moth seen occasionally, Aglaopus pyrrhata, one of the Picture-winged Leaf Moths, family Thyrididae.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/pwlm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/pwlmb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A look beneath the wings.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/pwlm2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/pwlm2b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Crypsiphona ocultaria is a very common grey Geometrid, aka the Red-lined Geometrid. One may wonder why until the lower wing surface is seen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/cryp.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/crypb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Just on three months ago a rarity, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/2020\/06\/18\/winter-surprise\/\">Syneora hemeropa was recorded<\/a>, and surprisingly another female turned up on this night, adding to the flight data of the species.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/syn.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/synb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"529\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Geometrids were the main visitors to the light, four Cleora MOV sp. (2) came in showing the variation that is typical of this species.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/cleo1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/cleo1b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"364\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/cleo2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/cleo2b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"398\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/cleo3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/cleo3b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"376\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/cleo4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/cleo4b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"387\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A dark Dysbatus MOV sp. (1)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/dys.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/dysb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"659\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And even darker, the Black Geometrid, Melanodes anthracitaria.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/mela.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/melab.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"391\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And finally, a regular, Ectropis excursaria.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/ectro.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/spring20\/ectrob.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"411\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Click to enlarge.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s here, and finally we&#8217;ve had a warm day and mild night, time to shine a light on proceedings.
