This one was found and photographed on the verandah tiles<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/noct.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/noctb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"723\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The front verandah is also a location where resting Ectropis moths are quite often found. This individual is quite worn with many of the distinguishing features faded but the dip in the hind wing line suggests that it is Ectropis bispinaria, (Boarmiinae)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/geo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/geob.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"393\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Spectrotota fimbrialis, (Pyralidae) is abundant, this was a nice specimen on a tree trunk.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/spectro.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/spectrob.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"786\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also found on a tree trunk, this nicely marked small\u00a0 moth for the time remains anonymous.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/moth.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"1013\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Disturbed while gardening this moth was very elusive and only one photo was taken when it landed on a persoonia. It is Tortricopsis pyroptis, (Oecophoridae)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/Tortricoptis pyroptis.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/Tortricoptis pyroptisb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"678\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also anonymous for now this tiny but colourful Oecophorid found nectaring on a Xerochrysum.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/oeco.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"519\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Heliotrope Moth, Utetheisa pulchelloides, (Arctiinae) can migrate south in big numbers. Just two came to the light, the second shot while fluttering shows the hind wings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/heliop1.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/heliop.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/heliopb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"769\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>February and March are the main flight months for Elhamma australasiae, (Hepialidae) They can come to the light in large numbers, plain females and smaller patterned males.<\/p>\n<p>Female.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/female1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/female1b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"401\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Male.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/male1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/home5\/male1b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"443\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Found around the house and garden during the daytime, and to the moth light at night.
