{"id":3554,"date":"2022-04-07T01:50:06","date_gmt":"2022-04-07T01:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/?p=3554"},"modified":"2026-02-16T04:05:44","modified_gmt":"2026-02-16T04:05:44","slug":"new-site-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/2022\/04\/07\/new-site-10\/","title":{"rendered":"New Site #10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following on, Scioglyptis chionomera, Grey-patch Bark Moth.<\/p>\n<p>Male.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/briag3\/chionm.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"394\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Female.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/briag3\/chionf.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"389\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Pomaderris species are popular food plants for species of moth larvae, an adult that came to the light is Casbia tanaoctena, the Speckled Casbia.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/briag3\/casbia.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"355\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Cream-fringed Emerald, Chlorocoma melocrossa.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/briag3\/chloro2.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Leaving the Geometrids, an interesting moth in the Hypeninae, one of the so called Snouts, for obvious reasons. MOV 8 notes that this moth seems to be restricted to damper forest. The light was not far from a deep foothill creek, suitable habitat.<\/p>\n<p>(Trigonistis) asthenopa, the Tiny Snout.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/briag3\/noct3.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"673\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Two more small moths, this time in the Oecophoridae.<\/p>\n<p>Syringoseca rhodoxantha.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/briag3\/oeco.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"444\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Heteroteucha dichroella.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/briag3\/oeco2.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"510\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Salma marmorea.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/briag3\/pyral.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"660\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Plus a couple of Painted Cup Moths, Doratifera oxleyi.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/natureofgippsland.org\/mothing\/briag3\/cupn.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"537\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A few other common species were recorded but will not be illustrated at this time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following on, Scioglyptis chionomera, Grey-patch Bark Moth.
